PART.1 Causes of Drip Irrigation Blockage

If the drip irrigation water is hard water and the carbonate content is high, long-term use will generate more scale on the inner pipe wall of the drip irrigation and block the dripper.
02.Physical blockage
This is the main cause of drip irrigation clogging.
Irrigation water quality is poor, and the filtering system is not perfect. After the mud and sand and other debris are pumped into the pipeline and drip irrigation pipe by the pump, when they pass through the jagged flow channel, the debris will block the flow channel and make the dripper unable to discharge water.
03.Biological clogging
The root system of the crop invades the drip irrigation outlet hole, or the blockage caused by the growth of algae and other microorganisms in the irrigation water.
The water-to-water and unbalanced irrigation of crop roots will cause the roots to grow into the drip-irrigation water outlet and extend into the water outlet and cause blockage.
If the irrigation water is rich in organisms such as algae, the drip irrigation system is often combined with fertilization, and the fertilizer pool and other light-proof facilities are not in place, which will easily cause a large number of microorganisms to multiply and block the inner wall of the drip irrigation.

01.Pretreatment of drip irrigation water
This is the most economical and effective way to prevent clogging. The stricter the pretreatment, the less physical clogging will occur.
According to the water quality and flow rate, trash racks are set up. The number of trash racks installed ranges from small to large, ranging from 10 to 50 meshes to block suspended mud, sand and debris. Or the river water is introduced into the reservoir, after sedimentation of the silt, for use, and to prevent the entry of sundries and algae reproduction.
02.Reasonable installation of filter system
According to the pre-treated water quality, the first part should be installed with sand-gravel filters, laminated filters, screen filters or used in combination for filtration treatment, and the water quality can generally reach the standard of drip irrigation water.
03.Use drip irrigation to fertilize properly
1. To choose soluble fertilizer, and the fertilizer applicator must be installed before the filter.
2. Fertilization can only be carried out when the filter equipment of the drip irrigation system is normal. After the fertilization is completed, the system should be rinsed with clean water for about 15-30 minutes to prevent the remaining fertilizer in the pipeline from settling.
04.Rinse the drip irrigation pipe and clean the filter regularly
When the newly installed drip irrigation pipe is used for the first time, the plug at the end of the drip irrigation pipe should be opened, and the water should be flushed sufficiently, and the impurities in the pipe should be rinsed before it can be used.
Before irrigation, check the filter, turn on the filter backwashing device to decontaminate, remove the impurities accumulated on the filter screen in time, prevent the filter from clogging, and replace the filter if it is damaged.
05.Chemical anti-blocking
If fertilizer and other chemical clogging occurs in drip irrigation, acid cleaning can be carried out if necessary, which can simultaneously achieve the effect of disinfection, inhibition and elimination of algae and microorganisms in the water.
Commonly used acids such as perchloric acid, nitric acid, and sulfuric acid, adjust the pH value to 5.5-6.0 during use, and strictly control the use concentration during treatment to avoid harm to crops. Pay attention to lower the irrigation pressure of the system during acid cleaning to slow down the flow rate and improve the pickling effect, and then rinse with clean water after the end.
This method is easy to cause soil acidification, it is recommended to use it with caution!
