Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) is a high polymer derived from the dehydration condensation of terephthalic acid glycol ester. PET is a creamy white or light yellow, highly crystalline polymer with a smooth, glossy surface. It has excellent physical and mechanical properties over a wide temperature range, with a long-term use temperature of 120°C. It has excellent electrical insulation properties, and its electrical properties are still good even at high temperatures and high frequencies, but its resistance to corona is poor, and its creep resistance, fatigue resistance, friction resistance and dimensional stability are all good.
Advantages
1. Good mechanical properties, impact strength is 3~5 times that of other films, good folding resistance.
2. Resistant to oil, fat, dilute acid and alkali, and most solvents.

6. Non-toxic, tasteless, good health and safety, can be directly used for food packaging.
PET is a milky white or light yellow highly crystalline polymer with a smooth and glossy surface. Good creep resistance, fatigue resistance, friction resistance and dimensional stability, small abrasion and high hardness, has the greatest toughness among thermoplastic materials: good electrical insulation properties, little affected by temperature, but poor corona resistance. PET resin has high glass transition temperature, slow crystallization, long molding cycle, long molding cycle, large molding shrinkage, poor dimensional stability, crystalline molding is brittle, low heat resistance, etc. Through the improvement of nucleating agent as well as crystallizing agent and glass fiber reinforcement, PET has the following characteristics in addition to the properties of PBT.
1. Heat deflection temperature and long-term use temperature are the highest among thermoplastic general-purpose materials.
2. Because of the high heat resistance, the enhanced PET in 250 ℃ solder bath impregnation for 10 s, almost no discoloration, especially suitable for the preparation of tin welding of electronic and electrical parts.
3. Bending strength 200Mpa, modulus of elasticity 4000Mpa, creep and fatigue resistance is also very good, high surface hardness, mechanical properties and thermosetting plastics similar.
4. Since the price of ethylene glycol used in the production of PET is almost half of that of butylene glycol used in the production, PET resin and reinforced PET are the lowest price among engineering plastics and have high cost performance.
